A post is too long. A prong is just too weird a name. A peg would be what I consider the micro figures connecting peice. A lug sounds like nuts & bolts, which also doesn't fit. A stud seems to be a nice description, since that's what they technically are. I tend to refer to them as studs (male) and fasteners (female). Hope that helps.

I just call them studs and maybe pegs on occasion.
